Preparation is key when it comes to community resilience. This is why weVolunteer is committed to providing training and resources to equip volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations with the skills and knowledge they need to best support communities in times of need.

These trainings are offered FREE to all volunteers and organisations registered with weVolunteer.

2022 courses

3Rs: Recruitment, Reward & Recognition

Format: Online
Duration: 3 hours

Recruitment, reward and recognition are all vital in ensuring you have a strong and motivated volunteer team. This interactive workshop will give you practical hints and tips to better target your ‘3Rs’ to ensure you get the most out of your efforts.

Learning outcomes:
•  Strategies for developing or enhancing your volunteer program
•  Understand recruitment and retention in line with the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement
•  Develop comprehensive recruitment channels to attract a variety of demographics
•  Understand volunteer motivations and how to manage volunteer expectations
•  Develop systems to recognise the contribution volunteers make to the programs and organisations in which they work

A-Z of Volunteer Management

Duration: 6 hours (across 2 sessions)

This interactive workshop provides participants with a sound understanding of best practice volunteer management. Participants will be taken through each stage of the volunteer’s involvement, based on the “life cycle” model of volunteer management.

We will also help you to identify your strengths as a manager/leader of volunteers and discuss how to build a positive workplace culture through values-based leadership.

This interactive online workshop aims to provide participants with some practical skills to help them recognise when an individual might be struggling with their psychological health, how and when to start a conversation about this, and strategies to adopt to ensure self-care is prioritised through the process.

Learning outcomes:
•  A greater understanding of the signs of mental ill health
•  Knowing how and when to initiate a discussion about mental health concerns
•  An understanding of how to provide psychological support to someone in need
•  Knowing some simple strategies to support self-care
•  Be equipped with a range of possible referral pathways for additional support

It’s the perfect workshop for those looking to understand the difference between a Police Check, a Working with Children’s Check, and how to effectively interview volunteers.

The Accidental Counsellor workshop is practical, interactive and will benefit anyone required to provide regular, or occasional, informal support and counselling.
