Preparation is key when it comes to community resilience. This is why weVolunteer is committed to providing training and resources to equip volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations with the skills and knowledge they need to best support communities in need.

These trainings are offered FREE to all volunteers and organisations registered with weVolunteer.

Understanding Psychological First Aid

Format: Online
Duration: 5 hours
Provider: Australian Red Cross
RRP: $150 (Free for those registered with weVolunteer)

This training offers international best practice skills in Psychological First Aid (PFA) following natural and non-natural emergencies and traumatic events.

You’ll learn:
•  The principles of Psychological First Aid
• 
How to apply these skills in crisis situations
• 
Processes for referring to appropriate support services

Supporting the Supporters

Format: Online

This workshop is for anyone in the disaster recovery or community sector that is supporting others, formally or informally, during times of significant community stress.

3Rs: Recruitment, Retention & Recognition

Recruitment, retention and recognition are all vital in ensuring you have a strong and motivated volunteer team. This interactive workshop will give you practical hints and tips to better target your ‘3Rs’ to ensure you get the most out of your efforts.

•  How to successfully recruit, retain and recognise the important contribution of volunteers

Accidental Counsellor

Format: Online

This training is for those supporting local communities in times of need, who may encounter situations where people are distressed or simply need someone to listen.

The Accidental Counsellor workshop is practical, interactive and will benefit anyone required to provide regular, or occasional, informal support and counselling.

•  How to manage these conversations with confidence

Principles of compassionate communication

Ways to calm someone in a high emotional state
